Allied Vehicles has been named winner of the Skillmiles Alba Award for 2011, in the Independent Garage category.
The Skillmiles scheme, which was launched in 2008 by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), is a pioneering way to recognise the support given to aid skills development across the automotive sector and to acknowledge and pay tribute to those actively making a difference to the industry.
Allied received the award in recognition of their substantial contribution in helping the IMI over the last twelve months. The company provides a wide range of after-sales motoring services and is also the UK's leading supplier of special purpose vehicles such as taxis for sale and wheelchair accessible vehicles.
Accepting the award on behalf of Allied were Chairman Gerry Facenna and Training Manager, Carol Meldrum. Carol commented: “We’re delighted to be involved with the Institute of the Motor Industry. We are committed to the ongoing development and success of the motor industry in Scotland and are honoured to receive this award in recognition of that.”
The awards took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow as part of the Scottish Motor Trade Association Annual Dinner. The evening was a great success with a total of £4,000 raised for the automotive charity, BEN.
