Allied Vehicles

Allied Vehicles are fully committed to offering a complete range of motor trade career opportunities. At our Glasgow Head Office premises, we currently employ, vehicle technicians (trainee and time-served), auto electricians, panel beaters, vehicle fabricators, vehicle assemblers and spray painters.

We have a strong belief in nurturing our own talent. To realise this aim, we have reached an agreement with a local secondary school who will provide us with school leavers to help fill our apprenticeship vacancies. We will visit the school prior to the summer recess and present our case, on why working for Allied Vehicles would be an excellent first step in their career path. Once we have selected the most suitable candidates, they are brought in as full time employees. The scheme lasts for four years and it allows the apprentices to learn a skilled trade in an environment that is both challenging and friendly. They will attend college on a day release basis and learn life skills as well as those relevant to their trade. We are one of the few companies who are prepared to take on this large commitment, but are in no doubt as to the benefits, both to the company and the apprentices themselves.

Our established departments within the company include, an accident repair centre (the largest in Europe), a highly automated service/MOT centre, parts department (which holds £500,000 of stock at any given time), and a successful defleet area where fleet vehicles are restored to their original showroom condition.

Since early 2003 we have expanded into vehicle production, coachbuilding, and vehicle conversions. These new ventures have proved to be hugely successful and good quality tradespeople are always welcome to apply for any vacancies in these areas.

There is no doubt that if a career in the motor trade is what you aspire to, then Allied Vehicles can offer you everything you would ever need.

Cab Direct

In addition to the traditional motor trade positions that we can offer, we also have the Cab Direct Sales Centre. The Sales Centre consists of six teams, each containing five sales executives and are responsible for all vehicle sales, including the Peugeot E7 and our extensive list of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAV's). Our Head office sales teams are backed up by Area Sales Managers and Field Sales Executives who are based throughout the UK and in most cases work from home.

Potential candidates for the Sales Centre are carefully selected using a rigorous process of assessment. Once you have managed to satisfy all the necessary requirements to work in Cab Direct sales, you will be placed on an intensive three week induction programme, which covers basic telesales to advanced techniques in selling vehicles over the phone. Our new recruits are professionally trained and encouraged to become top earners. Continued support and assistance is provided through a network of team leaders and managers.

We recognise that our sales people enjoy selling and we allow them as much time as possible to maximise their sales opportunities. There is an administration support team who are there to ensure that all sales are completed and that the customer is pleased with their purchase and willing to come back to us. Promotion is encouraged from within and there are plenty of opportunities for talented individuals to make a real impression and gain the recognition they deserve. With Cab Direct being such an innovative and forward thinking company, we are always looking at ways of improving the employee experience. This creative thinking makes for a fun and enjoyable working environment where success is always rewarded.

Allied Recruitment & Training

Allied Recruitment & Training work with local companies who need telesales operators and can match applicants to suitable positions. A full telesales training programme is provided to ensure the applicants have the necessary skills.

Career Development at Allied Vehicles

Like all successful organisations, we recognise that our people are our most important asset. Our commitment to employee development is unstinting and this was demonstrated in January 2004 with the introduction of our Management Development Programme (MDP). It is available to all areas of the business and continues for a period of 12 months. It has been designed initially for managers, supervisors and team leaders, however, it is available for anyone who wishes to develop into management at some stage during their career. We have teamed up with local enterprise company Glasgow North and Anniesland College, to put together a comprehensive programme relevant to our people's needs. Employee development is an essential tool in modern business and we believe that the MDP designed for our staff, is a great step in the right direction.
